 Dashain

"May the mirth and merriment of the magical festival of lights give you endless moments of joy and love."

Dashain Festival is one of the most important Hindu festival which is celebrated all over Nepal delightfully. This festival usually falls in the month of September or October and is actually celebrated for 15 days. It starts from bright lunar fortnight (Shukla Paksha) and ends on the day of full moon (Poornima) according to Nepalese annual calendar. Hindus greatest festival, Dashain honors a great conquest of the gods over the evil demons. The symbol of power, Goddess Durga is worshiped during this festival.  First day is called, Ghatasthapana. In this day we plant jamara at our home.

Phulpati -:
                 On this day our all the family members went to temple to worship goddess Durga. At evening my grandfather brought fulpati inside our home.

Asthami -:
                 This day is also known as eighth day of Dashain. In this day we sacrifice goat to goddess Durga in temple. Our family also sacrifice goat in temple. After sacrificing goat we return to our home. 

Nawami -:
                In this day we performed puja of our vehicles. Firstly we wash the bike and we did pooja. I helped my brother to wash the bike and to do pooja.

Dashami -:

                  It is tenth day of Dashain. In this day we put tika and jamara. Our elders will put tika in our forehead and give us a lot of blessings. I also received tika from my parents and grand parents. This day I play swing with my sister and fly kites with my brother. All the elders were playing cards. All the relatives were happy and having fun with each other. We also clicked some photos while putting tika. 

In this way I have celebrate my Dashain. I have a lot of fun with my younger ones and relatives. It was really a good time with all family members.
